What an absolutely INCREDIBLE week! For the last 14 years that the CMU Gus Macker class has been in operation, every Special Events team has worked tirelessly to make the Launch Party as impactful as possible to raise awareness about the Gus Macker Tournament and raise funds to help underwrite the event costs. A huge round of applause for all they accomplished, so our team has a torch (or helmet) to pass.
Our Special Events team blew us all away with the amazing decorations and set up they created in O’Kelly’s for the Launch Party. From the centerpieces to the balloons, attendees really felt like they were walking into the Hard Deck Bar at the beginning of Top Gun. Not to mention all of the incredible silent auction prizes and amazing slideshow that played throughout the event. A big round of applause for Jacuzzi and Moomad for coordinating this momentous event, and shoutouts to Woodchuck for securing such wonderful volunteers, Gelato for being the emcee, The Cannon for running the raffle, and all others who helped make this event the hit it was. Official 2024 Launch Party Stats:
· 1st - smallest team (16 students!)
· 1st - full fastest - at 7:04pm, every table in O’Kelly’s had a person sitting at it.
· 2nd - retail value ($8,200) - 2023 1st with $9,135
· 3rd - auction sales ($3,577) - 2023 (1st at $4,023); 2018 (2nd at $3,822)
· 3rd - total raised ($4,242) - 2023 (1st at $5,066); 2018 (2nd at $4,439)
· Wristbands in top 5 - most in 2022 with 193
· Raffle in top 5 - most in 2023 with $1,030
Being in the Top Five for all the Launch Party categories is an incredible honor, and a reflection of the work we all put in. For this small, but extremely mighty, crew we have held our own among the CMU Macker classes that came before us. We would not be here without them, and we thank them for their support and dedication. As always #finchforever!
