Week 9 - We Are Back!

Hello again CMU Macker fans! Sorry for going AWOL on you last week, CMU’s Spring Break was taking place and crew members were jetting off to have a nice relaxing vacation. Before they did, the crew came together to have a final breakdown of how the Launch Party went.

Crew members offered both criticisms and points of pride about the Launch Party. Many had wished that the instructions on the Silent Auction bid sheets had been a bit clearer, but championed that the smallest class had gotten the most bodies in chairs by 7:04 p.m. Others stated that they wish there had been a smoother way to announce the Silent Auction winners and everyone commented that the decorations and music really sold the Top Gun theme and transformed O’Kelly’s into the “Hard Deck.” Every good event has its ups and downs and what is important is that the crew works to be the best of the best and make everyone better.

On Monday night, February 26th, 16 members of the crew came together and watched the original Top Gun movie from 1986, some of which had never seen the film. Two important lessons were learned: 1) never get in the jet wash, and 2) never leave your wingman (and as a side note, buzzing the tower is rarely a good idea either).

The crew will now officially transition from planning the Launch Party to focusing on tournament weekend. For any that are interested in registering for the CMU tournament, fly over to macker.com. All teams must make sure that they are registering online with four people by April 8th and have paid the $180 registration fee to be tournament eligible.

The fighter jet paper plane competition is heating up as the first set of semi-finalists have officially been announced: Stink and K-KO! Tune in this week to learn who their opponents will be.
